My movement voice comes from growing up Peruvian in rural Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, navigating worlds, and searching for belonging while learning to carry a cultural that was often misunderstood or unseen.
By locking the intricate ‘zapateo’ (footwork) of my heritage into contemporary street rhythms. I create an authentic, highly infectious movement vocabulary.
My name ‘Kenko,’ is Quechua for ‘the twists and turns of one's life,’ it reflects how I approach dance--for me hip-hop is freedom, creativity, and grit.
My Peruvian traditions teach me lineage, ritual, and respect.
By embracing both movement languages, I create bridges to the past and present, explore migration, identity, and embody what it means to live between cultures--of finding home in movement and maintaining who you are, no matter where life takes you
